Gauloises is a premium cigarette brand first manufactured in France. This brand is currently made by the Imperial Tobacco Company following their acquirement of Altadis in January 2008. Gauloises was earlier manufactured in France; but now they are made in Spain to reduce the production cost of the brand. Imperial Tobacco is so well recognized primarily because of the cigarette brands they produce. Imperial Tobacco Company produces many cigarette brands like Gauloises, Davidoff and few others.
These cigarettes are known for their fine taste and soft aroma. Gauloises cigarettes are of such high quality due to the raw materials used to produce them. The manufacturing company of this brand uses dark tobacco which is imported from Turkey and Syria. Gauloises cigarettes which were made earlier were short pieces, were un-filtered type and had a strong special smell. A new and updated version of this brand called Gauloises Blondes was introduced in the 1984. They were made using white tobacco and they were mild and smooth compared to the earlier version. Gauloises cigarettes with lesser tar versions are also available, and they are sold in red and golden or white packets. The packaging of this brand is very stylish and interesting. You can also see the French influence and identity in the brand's packaging, the pack designer used a peculiar French style of blue to indicating French identity. Try this brand and enjoy the true taste of quality tobacco.
In 1999 when this brand was manufactured by Seita, the French health insurance fund filed a lawsuit against four cigarette manufacturers, including Seita. The suit was filed to cover the costs of treating ailments due to cigarette smoking. This suit was followed by more suits, one by the family of a deceased person who was a heavy smoker and then by the French health state insurer. Hence the brand administration was shifted to Altadis which is a joint French and Spanish ownership and later this company was acquired by the current owner Imperial Tobacco Company.
Some of the widely available styles of Gauloises cigarettes are: Soft, Lights, Medium, Super Light, KS, Gold and Filter. Gauloises smoking was also promoted as a contribution to the national good. Part of the profits that were made by this brand was given to an organization called Régie Française des Tabacs. This was an organization which worked to control the use of tobacco products by people, especially minors and teenagers. Part of the fund also went for promoting other good causes.

Making room for smokers and non-smokers
Smoking restrictions are nothing new, but anti-tobacco activists are increasingly asking governments to go much further, even calling for total bans on lighting up in public places such as bars and restaurants. But there are good and workable ways to banish smoke but not smokers, so that people who smoke don't have to suffer social exclusion.
